The Sawai Madhopur Lodge, spread over 12 acres, was built in the early 1930*s by Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II of Jaipur for his hunting trips to the jungle of Ranthambhore, which were the favorite hunting grounds of the royal family of Jaipur. The former hunting lodge has an art deco main block with various facilities for leisure, recreation, and entertainment.
The highlight of taking a trip to Sawai Madhopur is a visit to the Ranthambhore National Park. The National Park encompasses nearly 400 square kilometers of dry deciduous forests. The park derives its name from the fortress of Ranthambhore and is one of the finest habitats in the world for the tiger.
