Visitor (Application Form for a Non-Settlement Visa)
The applicant should have a passport valid for duration of stay in United Kingdom; one visa form, two recent passport-size photographs (not older than six months, unmounted - 45 mm x 35 mm in size, This must be on a white background, and should be glued to the application form.) a letter from host or sponsor in UK stating that they will support and accommodate the applicant during the visit and give confirmation as support document.
Traveler must be able to give financial standing and funds in form of evidence of employment and savings (in India); and, where necessary, the Income Tax return; a letter from the employer granting leave of absence and stating how long applicant has been working with them and in what capacity and if self-employed, evidence of business activity and financial standing. |
Transit(Application Form for a Non-Settlement Visa)
If you are entering the UK on your way to another country and you will stay in the UK for less than 48 hours, you will need to obtain a Visitor in Transit visa. If you want to stay in the UK for longer than 48 hours you will need to apply for a visit visa.
If you want to apply for a Visitor in Transit visa, you must be able to show that you have the necessary visa for the country you are traveling to; are traveling to a country outside the UK, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or the Irish Republic; can and intend to go at once to another country; will be allowed to entry to another country; meet the Immigration Rules as a visitor.
Your Visitor in Transit visa will usually be valid for six months. You can use it to travel through the UK as many times as you like while it is valid as long as your passport and visa for the country that you are travelling to will still be valid after the transit visa runs out. The visa will only be valid for entry to the UK if you meet these conditions on each journey through the UK. |
DATV(Application Form for a Direct Airside Transit Visa)
Effective 16 October nationals of India will need a Direct Airside Transit Visa (DATV) to travel through the UK. Previously nationals of India had required visas to visit the UK, but had been able to travel without one if they were passing through, within 24 hours, on their way to a third country.
The Direct Airport Transit Visa (DATV) is not required for Passengers.
- a valid visa and ticket for Canada or the USA.
- For those travelling from Canada or the USA, a visa for that country which if expired did so no more than two calendar days before arrival in the UK.
- a valid USA-1551 Permanent Residence Card (Green Card) issued on or after 21 April 1998.
- a valid Canadian Permanent Resident Card issued on or after 28 June 2002.
- a valid common format Category D visa for entry to an EEA State which is valid for more than three months;
- a valid common format residence permit issued by an EEA State pursuant to Council Regulation (EC) No. 1030/2002;
- a diplomatic or official passport issued by the Indian Government.
